Hiding sections is an advanced feature which is only available to CoSec Enterprise subscribers. Contact us to upgrade.

Introduction

Sections are used in boardcycle to organise items in your meeting into groupings and hierarchies, making it quick and easy to make changes as your meeting changes. Sections appear in exported agendas, run sheets and minutes as simple headings. Sometimes, however, you may prefer not to show those headings - this can be achieved with hidden sections.

Hiding sections

To hide a section:

  1. click the edit icon for that section

  2. select the Advanced tab

  3. switch the Hide section toggle to Yes

One you have hidden a section the following will occur:

  • the section will be shown as a hidden section on the agenda tab

  • the section will be ignored for item numbering purposes, meaning that any items within that section will be numbered based on the preceding (visible) section or item

  • the section will not be shown in exported agendas, run sheets or minutes.

Unhiding sections

To unhide a section:

  1. click the edit icon for that hidden section

  2. select the Advanced tab

  3. switch the Hide section toggle to No

Use cases for hidden sections

The key use case of using hidden sections is to create the appearance of 'sub-items' within an item, without the need for a section heading in between. This feature is also often used to show attachments / sub-papers to a main item paper, where you wish to show that on your agenda and/or in the Diligent or OnBoard bookbuilder.

Worth knowing: Hidden sections still behave as sections

Although sections can be hidden as explained above, it is important to remember that they still exist in the organisational structure of your meeting - meaning that although items that sit inside those sections may ignore it for numbering purposes, those items are still connected to that section and not to the (unhidden) sections or items above them. For this reason, we recommend that if you are reorganising your meeting, you unhide your hidden sections, perform the reorganisation, and then hide them again.
