Viewing someone's personal portal as a Secretariat Team user

Learn how Secretariat Team users can see what a Personal Portal user is seeing or will see in their personal portal

Written by Richard Conway

Introduction

As Secretariat Team users you will sometimes be asked by people who you have granted personal portal access why certain information is or is not shown in their portal, or how to use certain functionality. For some people in your organisation, you may also want to 'preview' what their personal portal will look like before granting them access.

Viewing someone's personal portal

Viewing the portal of an existing Personal Portal user

To view the portal of someone you have already granted personal portal access in boardcycle:

  1. navigate to the People tab of the relevant company

  2. click the email address of the relevant person in the Access column

Previewing before granting access

You can also preview someone's personal portal before granting them access to the personal portal. To do this, you should add that person's email address to their profile on the People tab, but leave their boardcycle access as "None". Once you have done that, you can access their personal portal in the same way as described above.

Viewing and acting in someone's personal portal

Once you have accessed someone's personal portal as described above, you will see exactly what they will see when they log into the portal, subject to your access rights (for example, if they have access to companies that you do not have access to, you will not have access to those companies). This includes that you will be able to see their actions and add/edit status updates in the same way that they would be able to do in the personal portal - however any additions or edits to status updates made by you via someone else's personal portal will still be recorded as having been done by you in boardcycle.
